Lavender Hill Regional Library Centre is located in the picturesque Cherry Tree community, a well visited tourist destination.

The library first opened in 1995 and has recently been extended and refurbished and there is now a Tourist Information Centre right next door along with the fantastic "Welcome to Lavender Cafe".

We are not just a library but a community hub, the centre of the community and a place where individuals, groups, organisations and businesses can meet, and a welcoming place for visitors.

Mission Statement

"To be a beacon in the community that promotes curiosity and discovery.  A welcoming meeting place for locals and travellers, delivering fantastic customer service that is respectful and equable.

To provide access to a fantastic range of services and resources that can help bring the world to the local community and take the local community to the world.

In short are goals are simple:

To welcome all
To assist all
To guide when needed"

We do this by providing:
  • Services and resources that respond to the needs of the community.
  • Exceptional customer service provided by highly trained professional staff.
  • Activities across all ages that reflects the diversity of individuals within the community.
  • Repository for local knowledge.
  • A central meeting and event place in the community.

The library is the custodial holder of important local history documents, artefacts and records dating back to the mid 1800's as well as a priceless original painting by Gregory Smith, a well-known local artist whose work is exhibited all over the world.

The library also holds an important photographic collection donated by Wilbur Donnelly, the son of Peter Donnelly, a local photographer who lived in the area from 1922 to 1950.

These collections are regularly accessed by our local community as well as historians and university students.
